End Of The Row on RFD-TV

I Want to let everyone know I will be featured on "The Horse Show with Rick Lamb" on the RFD-TV network. Haven't heard of it? Click on the logo to go to their web site to learn more. It's one of the fastest growing TV channels in the country. The Horse Show folks were at "The Great American Cattle Drive" in Ellsworth, KS. They recorded us playin' for everyone that day and they told me that they are going to feature the song "End Of The Row" on one of their episodes.

When will it be on? Great question. The first show will air on Tues. Dec. 11th at 4pm and 10pm Central Time. You can click here to check the other times of the week The Horse Show will re-run the episode. You can see below the different cable and satellite companys that feature RFD-TV.

Garden Plain and Fire Marshall Bill

Pictures from the weekend. You can see a better version of the LAAD video on my MySpace page. Scroll down to see Chase tear it up!

Click on the video to pause it.

Well this story starts before we even showed up in downtown GP. Apparently folks on the Wichita radio have been talkin' about our show. So the Fire Marshall got wind of it and thought a lot of people were going to show up so he went down to The Getaway to give them a friendly reminder (some might call it a threat) not to go over capacity. So sure enough there was a line out the door. And a lot of people did not get to see the show but hey, there was plenty of room to dance!

The show started kinda slow (because of my sleepiness) but we found a way to get it goin'. I was extremely happy to learn that we were going to fall back an hour. Kinda forgot about that. Of course that's not half as bad as my buddy Kirk forgetting his parents 45th wedding anniversary. Kirk . . . gonna have to pick it up man.

Thanks Leah for making this gig happen. Had a blast we will be back to conquer GP once again!

Please leave a comment if you were there or were one of the unlucky ones who couldn't get in.

Check out the vid!!!

On The Front Porch With My Friends

Tonight was a special night. I got to play just outside the Opry's front doors (yes they won't let me inside yet). Thom Shepherd asked me to play along side himself, Renae Truex (tremendous fiddle player and a member of the band Cowboy Crush) and John Calzavara (laid back and easy goin' dobro player).

We had a great time! Thom let me sing a few. I even got to pick a little on my guitar -- wasn't very good -- but at least Thom didn't yell at me.

Hope we can do it again. If you were at the Opry tonight and took pictures email 'em. I'll put 'em in this space.

Thanks For letting me sit in with ya Thom.

WE DID IT!!!

With the help of hundreds of my closest friends, We are finalists for CMT's Music City Madness video contest!

Whew! I was getting nervous we weren't gonna make it.

Let me try to explain it for ya. Remember every year the NCAA basketball tourney in March, otherwise known as March Madness? Well thats how this contest works kinda. There are 64 finalists and each finalist is paired against another each round. So all we have to do is win 6 times in a row.

Ok Ok I know that's a lot of winning and a lot of voting but we can do it! The competition is tough and we are going to have to work hard to get the word out about this contest.

You can vote as many times as you like. Just click here to get started voting.

I am in the upper left bracket so you can find me quicker!

Be sure to check with my web site or myspace.com/daveparksnashville for daily updates and info.

How do you vote? Great question. When you click on the link above CMT has a great instruction page to help you.

Thanks To You!

I wanted to write this post for every single person that made the past weekend happen. I gotta say it all started with Michael Daerr and all the folks in Garden Plain but at each show someone was always there to give me a helping hand . . . doing what ever it took to help make the show happen with out a glitch. I am overwhelmed at all the support I received this weekend. There is absolutely no way I could have done this on my own. From my band being so laid back and doing whatever I asked them to . . . to my wife back at home takin' care everything that comes along with a house in the country and 2 crazy kids. And the kindness of Darryl (there is no) Justice drivin' the bus from the rental car place to the terminal what a cool guy!

Don't forget to write a comment on the post of the show you attended!

Thank you all.
Dave

Good Times at the State Line.

Thanks to everyone that came out on a busy July 4th week. We had a great time. It was nice to have laid back atmosphere and fun to tell a lot of the stories behind the songs my dad and I wrote. Of course my dad wasn't there to verify that I was telling the truth but oh well.

Double shot of Guitaraokee at the Fillin Station

Thursday -- Never have I had a crowd that could sing as good as these guys at the Fillin' Station on Thursday. Jerry you left too early. And Jimmy too bad you had to head outta town. You shoulda stayed. It was quite amazing. Now we didn't have a karaoke machine but my guitar was a great substitute. These guys know the words to every country song I think. We did have trouble with the 2nd verse of Mountain Music but once we got "White tail buck deer. . ." we were set. Come on down next Friday night!

Friday-- Had a blast once again at the Fillin' Station. Kind of an unscheduled appearance but thanks for calling Patrick! Come back Friday Feb 16 THEdaveparks.com will be there.

Thank You All

In the past week I have met and gained so many new friends through the song my dad and I wrote for Jodi Sanderholm. It's truly amazing. Dance (Song for Jodi) has been downloaded well over 1000 times in less than a week.

So many of you have left comments on this site or my MySpace or emailed me to express your gratitude to me for singing the song. For me to say "Your Welcome" doesn't seem appropriate. I just wanted to use this post to tell everyone thank you for letting me be small part of the healing process in this terrible time of grief. I'm so thankful God has let me use my talents to truly help folks and make a difference.

Thanks to Matt Mayo who took the initiative to ask me to write a song.
Thanks to my dad, Randy, for really getting the lyrics of this song going. But most of all to the Sanderholm family and friends for being receptive and helpful in this very very tough time.

You can download "Dance (Song for Jodi)" here. Right click and choose save target as.

Jodi Sanderholm 1987-2007

If you haven't heard Jodi's tragic story click on this link to read about it.
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/522579/remembering_jodi_sanderholm.html?cat=8

I was asked by a Cowley County resident Matt Mayo to write a song that might lift up Jodi and help the family and friends she left behind. Of course in turn I asked my dad to help me.

Matt gave the family the music in hopes that it might help and they played the song at a memorial service in Jodi's honor.

The response has been amazing. I never had the chance to meet Jodi or her family. But after watching the service over the internet I feel moved to take the opportunity in this space to ask all who are reading these words.

If you died today do you know where you would spend eternity? Jodi knew, but if you're not sure take the time to go to this page and learn more about how God wants to have a relationship with you right now.

It's so hard to find something positive out of this situation. But someday in heaven wouldn't we all rejoice with Jodi if someone came to know Jesus as their personal Savior from of this terrible tragedy.

You can leave a comment by clicking below.
You can watch the memorial service and learn more about Jodi http://www.kwch.com
You can download the song "Dance (Song for Jodi)" here. right click and choose save target as.
If you download a copy of this song all I ask is that you make a contribution to the Cowley College Endowment Association, 125 S. Second St., Arkansas City, KS. 67005.
They are setting up an annual Scholarship fund for students in the science curriculum in Jodi's memory.

Dave Parks Bio

Nashville based country-rocker Dave Parks is hard at work on a new studio album to follow-up last year’s “Fools Like Us.” The yet to be titled CD will be Parks’ third independent label release—the first being 2007’s “Livin’ an American Dream.”

The singer/songwriter says his approach to writing for these sessions is a bit different than before. “I’m letting the inspiration hit me as it comes and not trying to force anything for a deadline,” says Parks. “It’s important to me to have this collection of songs be as honest and genuine as anything I’ve ever done.”

With plans to take his touring band on the road following the CD release, Parks has been sharing his passion for live performance at Music City’s most anticipated new night spot—Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville. According to Parks, it’s an honor to be able to help open Buffet’s newest franchise. “I can’t express how great it is to be able to share my music in an intimate setting like this…with all these cool people coming out.” Parks adds, “Plus I’m able to give folks a glimpse of my new material while it’s still in the formative stages.”

Parks, who’s more contemporary than traditionalist, doesn’t want anyone to think that his more laid back approach to songwriting means less attention to detail in the studio. On an upcoming track titled “Think about the Days” Dave has pulled in musicians whose credits include stints with Kenny Chesney and LeAnn Rimes.

Dave Parks is perhaps best known for his music videos—several of which have gone viral and become internet sensations. Parks’ videos caught the attention of country superstar Craig Morgan who enlisted Parks’ videographer Dallas Henry to direct the video for his own hit single “International Harvester.”

Dave Parks first grabbed the national spotlight immediately after high school with a string of appearances on The Nashville Network’s “Be a Star” program. Finishing as a semi-finalist by performing his own songs, Parks knew he had to return to Nashville in a few years with a more mature perspective as an artist. Inspired by a soulful sound; Parks has woven his sense of humor, love of family, God and country, and depth of feeling into his vocal & guitar styles.

His talent was apparent early on. The son of a guitar playing Baptist preacher who is the son of a guitar playing Baptist preacher, Parks grew up with country music on Saturday night and Gospel music on Sunday.

As a high school freshman in Kansas, Parks was asked to sing a few songs at his annual hometown talent show. When he began to sing, something happened to the crowd. Parks said in a 2005 interview, “All the people who were dancing stopped. They were all standing there listening to me. The power in the songs was touching them, but they were touching me too. I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life.”

During his four-year stint at Kansas State University, Parks honed his live performance skills by playing at local clubs in and around Manhattan, Kansas. After earning his degree, Dave and his wife Renee packed their bags for Music City.
